D Day case study

A National Commemorative Event to mark the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings saw 3000 invited guests including over 300 veterans, Her Majesty the Queen and sixteen heads of state – including President Trump – descend on Portsmouth’s Southsea Common on June 5th 2019.

The high-profile and high-security event was organised by HPower, a long standing client of Qdos Event Hire. HPower contracted us to provide cabins and welfare facilities for:

  • H Power production
  • Technical production
  • Crew catering
  • Welfare, safety and medical, site crew, accreditation and security
  • BBC
  • Veterans pavilion
  • Seating areas
  • VVIPs
  • The Royal Family

The Qdos team was onsite from 22nd May installing cabins, the units supplied included: multiple 16’, 24’, 32’ open plan and split offices, a 32’ hospitality unit with a central link and 10’ and 20’ stores.

In addition, an array of welfare facilities from our extensive range were in use throughout, these included: 8’ x 6’ bay vacuum pod, 6 x disabled pods, 8 x 4 + 2 luxury vacuum trailer, luxury urinal trailer, 10 single plastic toilets and 2 internal luxury vacuum toilets for the VVIPs and Royal Family. All units were with vanity wash basins, electric lighting, hand towels, soap, toilet rolls, and tidy bins. A dedicated team remained onsite to provide any essential maintenance and carry out toilet attending duties on the event days.

 

The event was televised live by BBC and many European broadcasters.
