The Open is the oldest and largest golfing events in the world is the jewel in the crown of our contract with the R&A. We have been supplying kit to the prestigious event since 2021, delivering more than 300 units from our extensive product range with kit deployed to both the organiser (R&A) and the multiple broadcasters onsite.
The scale and complexity of the project is a logistical challenge that Qdos’ highly experienced team is well equipped to deliver. Two dedicated project directors are assigned to the organising team and broadcasters respectively to ensure a smooth build and de-rig. Everything is planned in minute detail, with units scheduled for delivery as required and then sited correctly once they arrived onsite.
The temporary accommodation supplied includes cabins, modular buildings, ticket offices, anti-vandal and anti-doping units, hospitality units and storage containers, ranging in size from 8’ to 40’. These were utilised as offices for golfers, production, site management, championship runners, medics, security, marshals, senior management and executives; reception areas and meeting rooms; contractor offices, canteens and stores; green rooms, commentary boxes and newsrooms. In addition, more than 140 toilets and shower units:
- 8’ accessible toilets
- 20’, 24’ and 28’ jackleg toilet blocks in a combination of male, female and mixed
- 2 bay pods
- 3+2 luxury vacuum trailers
- 28’ luxury VIP toilet blocks
- Plastics
- 4 bay showers
In addition, there were several bespoke requirements, these included:
- Double stacking VIP toilet blocks directly linked to two-tiered hospitality marquees
- Purpose-built staircases
- Manufacturing bespoke drapes to create black boxes for broadcast areas
- Installation of partitions and sinks to create the exact facilities required
A Qdos project director and a team of engineers remained onsite throughout the tournament ensuring that all kit was maintained and on-hand to support clients.
