Qdos Event Hire provided a host of welfare facilities for the 2018 Ryder Cup matches, from its extensive product range. This included its contemporary jackleg toilets, luxury vacuum and re-circulating toilet trailers, plastic toilets and a shower for the VIP backstage area. This totalled an impressive 164 units supplied to the event, giving a total capacity in excess of 1000 individual toilets. Contracted by the prestigious events organiser, and long-standing client, the PGA European Tour, Qdos was the sole supplier appointed to provide toilets for all contractors, broadcast and public, outside of the main hospitality areas.
Units were situated in the East & West Tented villages; on-course at the main public catering areas on the 4th, 6th & 14th holes; behind the impressive 7000 seat grandstand that wrapped around the 1st Tee & 18th Green; the two main on-site bus terminals which handled the movement of the public from the four park and ride sites, and then a number of units where placed in and around the course for the use of players, officials and media. Qdos also supplied facilities to the enormous broadcast compound which supported the like of Sky Sports, NBC, BBC 5 Live and other international broadcasters.
The first delivery of units was made in early April to provide facilities for several off course locations. The final units will return to the UK at the end of October, so the team will have been onsite for 29 weeks.
The turn of the Europeans to host this time around, the tournament was held in France from 28th –30th September at the Albatros Course of Le Golf National, on the outskirts of Paris so Qdos’ kit had to be transported across the channel to the venue which brought its own set of logistical challenges.
In addition, Qdos provide a team of six event engineers and three event service vehicles to complete the servicing and maintenance of the toilets, ensuring that were in an excellent condition throughout the busy tournament.
The Europeans won back the Ryder Cup with an impressive 17½ to 10½ victory over the Americans.
