Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla Case Study

With over a decade of experience in providing temporary accommodation to prestigious Royal events for both production and broadcast purposes, Qdos Event Hire was contracted by Identity to supply over 50 units to the Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

Cabins, stores and mobile offices in a variety of sizes were utilised by Identity’s production team, suppliers and key stakeholders at various locations along the procession route in central London. These included Green Park, St James’s Park, Canada Gate, Dean’s Yard and Victoria Tower Gardens, with 20’, 24’ and 32’ cabins in several configurations providing comfortable and practical office space for those involved in the delivery of the event. A bespoke 10’ x 24’ CTX commentary/ viewing box was installed at Horse Guards Parade., along with 36 plastic toilets and six 4 bay shower blocks for use by the Armed Forces.

All toilets were serviced on a daily basis, out of hours due to the numerous restrictions to access in place given the location and levels of security.

Qdos supplied an extensive range of cabins direct to the numerous UK and international broadcasters who were on-site in the TV Compound located in Canada Gate.  in London to televise the Coronation. These included BBC, ITN, Sky, Global and the Foreign Broadcaster Service who between them utilised 25 cabins ranging in size from 12’ to 32’ which were used as offices for editorial, production and technical staff as well as green rooms, dressing rooms and make-up spaces.

 

As part of our ongoing contract with the Metropolitan Police we also provided them with 20’ and 24’ cabins, 10’ stores and several 4+2 vacuum toilet trailers at key sites in central London. A 20’ CTX modular building with glass frontage was supplied to Arena Group at Horse Guards Parade which was utilised as a viewing platform by the Armed Forces and remained in situ until after the Trooping of the Colour event.

Alongside the kit supplied to Identity, Qdos delivered an additional 30 cabins in central London to the numerous UK and international broadcasters on-site in central London. With another 134 units, including cabins, toilets, dressing rooms and offices supplied to the BBC and its production team based at Windsor Castle for the Coronation Concert. There were also units supplied to the BBC in Dover for the Lighting up the Nation sequence.

Qdos proved, once again, that its unrivalled experience, knowledge of sites within central London and excellent working relationship with the operational team on the ground is invaluable for events of this nature.
