Qdos Event Hire has been supplying temporary accommodation to Chelsea Flower Show since 2017. Qdos has invested in kit that specifically meets the needs of the event. This includes a cabin commissioned by the RHS for use as its accreditation office. The bespoke design has a unique configuration to meet its exact requirements. In addition, many of the cabins supplied are green in colour, to blend in with the greenfield site at Royal Hospital Chelsea.
Given the location and layout of Royal Hospital Chelsea and some of the areas where cabins are sited, amongst trees etc., Chelsea Flower Show is often considered to be one of the most logistically challenging events on the calendar. This is all factored in at the planning stages with the team giving due attend to timings with everything painstakingly scheduled in advance to ensure smooth delivery once onsite.
The 2021 was held in September as it was postponed due to the ongoing COVID pandemic. All units had to be installed in late August which was an incredibly busy period for the industry. Qdos were also installing kit at Goodwood Revival, Big Feastival, Slam Dunk, PGA Wentworth, All Points East and Castle Howard during the same time frame.
More than 40 cabins and storage containers were delivered to the event. They were utilised for a variety of purposes, including as offices and a mess area for the show’s organising team; offices for official contractors; accreditation areas; IT rooms and media facilities. An additional 10 cabins were also installed for caterer Sodexo.
