Qdos win ‘Best Supplier’ at Festival Supplier Awards 2018

Qdos Event Hire was delighted to scoop the prize for ‘Best Supplier’ at this year’s Festival Supplier Awards when they were held at the Hurlingham Club, London on 25th January 2018. The dedicated awards evening highlights the creativity and innovation that suppliers throughout the festival and outdoor events deliver.

With 22 awards presented in total, Qdos was thrilled to receive the ultimate accolade at the event. Commenting on the win, James Thomas, managing director said: “2017 was an incredible year for Qdos, we were awarded several large multi-year contracts and invested heavily in equipment, the team and our facilities. To be awarded ‘Best Supplier’ by a high-calibre panel of judges is extremely pleasing and testament to all of our hard work.”

Qdos’s entry detailed the company’s work at Chelsea Flower Show and V Festival (Chelmsford) along with details of its impressive rosta of events and green credentials. Judges’ comments on the night included: “Overall winners because of their impressive delivery across complex and large scale operations” and “Ability to take on large scale projects because of their willingness to invest and their obvious commitment to customer service and hard work, regardless of the size of the event.”

Qdos awarded 3-year contract with RHS Chelsea Flower Show

Following a competitive tender Qdos Event Hire has been awarded a three-year contract to supply temporary accommodation to RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Arguably, the world’s most prestigious gardening event, RHS Chelsea Flower Show will take place this year from 23rd– 27th May.

It’s a deal that sees Qdos provide the RHS with over 25 cabins and mobile offices, for a variety of purposes. These include: offices and a mess area for the show’s organising team; offices for official contractors; accreditation areas; IT room and a media facility.

To fulfil the contract, the company has invested in new products, having recently taken delivery of a brand new 40’ cabin and six 20’ cabins, including one specifically commissioned by the RHS for their accreditation office. The bespoke design has a unique configuration to meet its exact requirements. In addition, several of the cabins have been supplied in green, to blend in with the green site at Royal Hospital Chelsea.

James Thomas, managing director of Qdos Event Hire explains: “The first set of cabins were delivered and installed on 27th and 28th April, with a dedicated Qdos project manager in attendance. A great deal of logistical planning has gone into this event, we were keen to give due attention to the site, there are a lot of trees etc. With this and timings in mind, everything has been painstakingly scheduled.”

Qdos provides temporary accommodation and welfare facilities for unveiling of the Iraq and Afghanistan Memorial on behalf of HPower Group

When the HPower Group was asked to produce the Service of Dedication for the unveiling of the Iraq and Afghanistan Memorial in Victoria Embankment Gardens, London at 11am on the 9th March 2017, Qdos Event Hire was the sole supplier of temporary accommodation and welfare facilities.

The new Memorial recognises the contributions of the UK Armed Forces and all UK citizens who were deployed in the Gulf region, Iraq and Afghanistan from 1990-2015, and those who supported them back home.

A Service of Dedication was conducted from a specially constructed Drumhead on Horse Guards Parade with The Queen, Prime Minister Theresa May and the Defence Secretary, Sir Michael Fallon, all in attendance. Joining them were His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Henry of Wales. Readings were given by Prince Henry and a Ministry of Defence Civil Servant Victoria Whittaker who deployed to Afghanistan in 2014.

Work commenced on the project for Qdos on 1st March when they delivered two 24ft x 9ft cabins, one with a 50/50 split, and an 18ft x 7ft 6” mobile office for use as event and site offices by HPower Group’s production team. In addition, a wide range of WCs from Qdos’ comprehensive offering was supplied for the event, including more than ten luxury vacuum toilet trailers, in various configurations to accommodate male, female and disabled guests. An experienced Qdos project manager oversaw the installation and remained onsite to ensure everything ran smoothly from their perspective.

Commenting on the facilities provided by Qdos Event Hire, HPower Group’s director, Nick Brookes-Ward said: “This was a high-profile event, with many of the UK’s leading Royals, politicians and dignitaries in attendance so top notch facilities were most definitely the order of the day. We work with Qdos on a fairly regular basis and are always impressed with the quality of its products and the team – they have a can-do, customer focussed approach which is exactly what was needed for this project.”

James Thomas, Qdos Event Hire’s managing director added: “Working within Horse Guards and Embankment Gardens presents its own challenges, given its historical and cultural significance. Obviously, security is very tight and stopping work, for the Changing of the Guard each day, has to be factored into our schedules. Luckily our team has plenty of experience working here from previous projects and this coupled with our great working relationship with HPower Group made for a successful project.”

Qdos win ‘Best Toilets’ at Festival Supplier Awards 2017

Qdos Event Hire was thrilled to take home the award for ‘Best Toilets/ Waste Management’  at the Festival Supplier Awards. The glittering awards ceremony and dinner was s held at the Hurlingham Club in London on 26th January 2017. With 24 awards presented in total, Qdos was delighted to receive the accolade for their work with H-Power, organiser of the Royal Windsor Horse Show, HMQ90, International Endurance and the Long Walk, to supply a selection of their high quality and diverse range of toilets and shower facilities into the spectacular grounds of Windsor Castle.

The Festival Supplier Awards recognise companies who work tirelessly to deliver great events, many of whose efforts often go unseen.  Amongst the awards presented were accolades for Best Stage, Best Power, Best Temporary Structure, Best Concession/ Bar and Best Sound, along with gongs for Best Production Team and Best Festival Support Service.

Qdos recognised as high achievers at Hire Awards of Excellence 2016

James Thomas with his Highly Commended certificateQdos Event Hire’s modular cabins were recognised at this year’s prestigious Hire Awards of Excellence. The company was highly commended in the ‘Event Product of the Year’ category when the awards ceremony when they were held on 23rd April, at stunning central London venue, 8 Northumberland Avenue.

Organised by Hire Association Europe and Event Hire Association (HAE EHA), the awards represent the best in the industry for plant, tool, hire and event equipment. Independently judged, the awards are the pinnacle of the year for the winners and also those highly commended, with both companies and individuals receiving recognition for their outstanding contribution to the hire industry.  This year’s glittering ceremony was hosted by popular presenter, broadcaster and journalist Jeremy Vine, best known for his BBC Radio 2 programme.

Qdos was established in 2010 to provide high quality temporary accommodation, welfare and toilet facilities and has successfully delivered units to many of the UK’s leading outdoor events and festivals. This particular award submission focused on their work at last year’s Festival of Speed where they supplied modular cabins in a range of configurations. Qdos also provided and managed a range of added value services to complement the products being supplied, this included carpenters to build and install over 80 purpose built access steps and ramps and cladding to finish and dress units.
